Fourth of July Style: A Layered Table That Feels Festive, Not Fussy

The Fourth of July is our favorite summer celebration at Quincy & Coco — Stevi and Dianna (and our families) have literally been celebrating every July 4th together since 2010!

It is all about gathering friends and family outdoors, enjoying long afternoons that turn into yard-game tournament evenings, and creating a table that feels joyful and welcoming.

And the best part? You don’t need to go overboard or buy all new décor. Some of the most charming details can come from your own backyard, or local market finds. And we think Quincy & Coco pieces make the perfect base. ❤️🤍💙

Here are a few of our favorite ways to style a Fourth of July table that feels elevated but effortless:

01 | Layered Linens in Stripes + Solids

Pick a stripe, any stripe. It can be your tablecloth, napkins, plates, or all of it! Our striped runners and napkins make an easy, breezy base — think navy or classic red. Layer with neutral solids or even a soft block print for a more curated mix. The idea is not to be perfect — just what makes you happy.

02 | Fresh Florals from Your Yard

Clip a few blue hydrangeas, red roses, or white daisies from your garden — or mix whatever is blooming locally. We love using simple glass vases or vintage mason jars to keep the look light and casual. And, as beautiful as a big bouquet can be, sometime’s low is better for a table where you intend to banter and chatter and look people in the eyes.

03 | A Touch of Natural Texture

Add touches of woven material, like rattan napkin rings or some bamboo baskets to bring warmth to your table. These balance the patriotic palette and feel perfectly summery.

04 | Fruit as Decor (and Snacks!)

Scatter small bowls of cherries, strawberries, blueberries, or watermelon down the center of the table. They double as vibrant decor and encourage casual snacking.

05 | Candles + Lanterns for Glow

Gold or brass lanterns (or even simple votives) add warmth as the sun goes down. We love layering them with florals for an inviting nighttime vibe.

06 | Personalized Place Settings

Add a handwritten tag, a sprig of rosemary, or a small flag at each setting. These little touches make guests feel welcomed and set the tone for a special meal. We like to call them placewetting charms, and we think they’re the most underrated table decor of all.

07 | Mix Paper with Reusable

Don’t stress over perfection. Pair your favorite Quincy & Coco linens with festive paper plates or bamboo flatware if that suits your crowd. The goal is a table that invites conversation, not one that keeps you in the kitchen.

08 | Stars Subtly Included

Bring in the star motif in understated ways — a small dish, star shaped cookies or candies, or even star-shaped ice cubes in the drinks. A little goes a long way.

09 | A Flag Moment — But Make It Chic

Instead of covering the table in flag prints, try one simple vintage flag in a jar, or a few small flags tucked into flower arrangements.

10 | Joyful Layers, Your Way

Above all: layer pieces you love. Whether that’s block-printed napkins with striped runners, glassware you already own, flowers from the market, or found objects from your home — a thoughtful mix tells a story and creates a table that feels like you.

Finally, the Fourth of July is about joy, community, and connection. Don’t worry about the rules — layer what you love, mix old with new, and create a table that reflects the warmth of the day. We hope our pieces help bring that feeling to your home this summer.
