One year ago, Quincy & Coco began with a simple idea: homes feel more meaningful when the objects inside them carry stories.

Not mass-produced stories. Real ones of hands, heritage, and generations of craft.

Today we’re celebrating our first birthday by sharing the story behind the pieces we loved most in 2025: hand block printed textiles from Jaipur, India.

Because when you set a table with block printed linens or carry a hand-printed tote, you’re holding centuries of artistry in your hands.

What Is Hand Block Printing?

Hand block printing is one of the oldest textile printing techniques in the world, practiced for generations in Rajasthan, India.

The process begins with master carvers, who carefully carve designs into blocks of sisam wood. From a simple geometric block to a complex floral pattern, their skill is incredible.

Once carved, the blocks are dipped into dye and pressed onto fabric with a firm strike of the printer’s palm. The printer repeats the motion across the fabric, aligning each impression 

The result is something machines can’t replicate: perfectly imperfect prints, each one slightly unique.
